Product Description: Lemongrass is a perennial grass that is fast-growing, tall, and aromatic. It can grow up to 1.5 meters (4 feet) in height. It is native to Asia but is now cultivated mostly in the West Indies, Africa, and Tropical Asia. Distillation of the leaves of C. flexuosus yields East Indian lemongrass oil. The oil is very similar to West Indian lemongrass oil and is used as a flavouring and fragrance material, mainly in soaps, detergents, and industrial perfumes. The oil is a source of citral, which is either used directly or converted toα- andβ-ionones.
Cautions: Avoid in glaucoma and with children. Use caution in prostatic hyperplasia and with skin hypersensitivity or damaged skin. Avoid use during pregnancy.
It is recommended that this essential oil be stored in dark amber, blue or green glass bottles since it has been found to dissolve aluminum bottles.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.
Caution: All of our products are for external use only.
