Product Description: Asafoetida is the dried latex (gum oleoresin) exuded from the rhizome or tap root of several species of Ferula, a perennial herb that grows 1 to 1.5 m (3.3 to 4.9 ft) tall. It is part of the celery family Apiaceae. Asafoetida contains mainly resin (40–64%), gum (25%), and volatile oil (10–17% on a dry-weight basis). The resin portion consists mainly of asaresinotannol, free or combined with ferulic acid. Umbelliferone seems to be present in combined state.
